It’s Scams Awareness Week! 26th - 30th August
It’s Scams Awareness Week and we’re encouraging you to “Share a story, stop a scam”.
Most of us have encountered a scam. By talking to each other about our experience, we can make sure no one feels alone in the fight against scammers.
If you’ve been the target of a scammer, it’s important that you share your story with someone - it could be your mates, family, colleagues, social networks, or community.
The more stories we hear, the more we understand how scams work and the steps we can take to avoid them.
Everyone has a part to play in shutting down scammers. This Scams Awareness Week we’re encouraging all Australians to speak up, share and report scams as a way to protect each other.
We Need To Talk About Scams
Anyone can be scammed. Sharing your story helps others to spot, avoid and report scams, and to recover from them.
If you have identified or encountered a scam, it is important that you share your story with someone – it could be your friends, family, colleagues, social networks, or community. When you share a scam story, you can prevent someone else from having their money or personal information stolen. By talking to each other, we can make sure no one is alone in the fight against scams.
